MEMORY OF:
December 13, 2004
Dear Friends and Fans of Ricky Lynn Gregg, I am deeply saddened to report to you about the loss of a life long friend, and one of the world's unique and greatest guitarist, Darrell "Dimebag" Abbott. Darrell Dimebag Abbott tragically passed on December 8, 2004 in Columbus, Ohio at the Damage Plan concert. I have known Darrell since he was 12 years old, along with his older brother, Vinny who is the drummer for Damage Plan. Their father, Jerry Abbott, and I worked closely together early in my career. I watched Darrell and Vinny grow up, and create their powerhouse band Pantera which brought them world wide recognition. Both of them were extremely proud of their new band Damage Plan. Darrell was kind enough to give me an amp after learning that mine had been stolen weeks earlier. That is the kind of guy that he was. Always giving. That is what I will miss the most about Darrell. He gave me his friendship. He was a rock superstar. There are many people who would have wanted to be his friend, I was lucky enough to call him my friend. God Bless You into Heaven, Darrell. Ricky Lynn Gregg December 8, 2004 Ricky was asked to be a Member of Native American Music Board of Advisors by the Nashville Director and Board member of NAMA Mrs. Sandra Schulman. October 23, 2004 Hello to My Wonderful Friends, My wishes for you are that God is taking care of you and your family. I do regretfully write to inform you that we've lost one of our most treasured and respected RLG family members. An original GreggHead and a beautiful soul and spirit, who loved music, and I was so lucky that she loved mine, I am speaking of Ms. Ann Peace. On the day of our Lord, October 20, 2004, God took back one of His most adored treasures. I had recently talked to Ann while she was in her nursing facility. She was only there to gain a few pounds, and to get back on her feet. Ann had achieved those goals. But in the blink of an eye, Our Lord began to take her home to heaven to be with her husband. We as humans can not help but grieve over Ann's passing. But, Ann always made something good out of something bad. Ann would travel on a Greyhound bus, alone, just to come to one of our shows. I got many backstage passes for her because her pure soul earned it with her love. I could tell you so many stories about Ann, and I plan to do so, so that you could see all the delight she brought to me and ma band and all her GreggHead friends that loved her as much as me. Cookie, I will never forget you taking your time, driving out of your way to make sure Ann was able to see our show. Thank you again. Just this last spring, I was able to celebrate Ann's last birthday with her. It made me and Ann so happy, along with the rest of my band, both mine and Ann's friends who where there with us. Ann had immeasurable determination when it came to music and coming to see my band and our shows. Ann always sent me and my Mama Lucille Christmas gifts every year from the time I met her in 1993. I lost a great friend and a beautiful soul who always prayed for me daily. I ask you now to pray for Ann's arrival into heaven. Thank Jesus for having the gate wide open for her, and please pray for our fallen prayer warrior. Please pray for me and LaCretia. It seems now that I only have 2 fans from Georgia left. That would be Jean and Flossy. They loved Ms. Ann as much as we did. In the coming weeks we will put on both websites, our official website Rickylynngregg.com and our newly formed website of mine webmastered by Kenny and Gina Berryman, Rickylynngreggunplugged.com, messages and information for fans like the passing of our dear friend Ann Peace. We will also talk about positive things within my life. As soon as we get he picture together and go through the process fo transferring them to the website, I will have accumulated all the stories about Ann from people in California and North and South Carolina. It is hard not to grieve over her loss especially if you were a direct family member. But, I and we as friends owe it to Ann Peace the words of the celebration of her life. Bare with us, for between our official website webmaster Broose Uher and our advant garde fun daily periodical website operated by Kenny and Gina Berryman we have a wealth of information and stories to compile. Everyone is eager to share their stories about Ann. We plan to make copies for her family so that they know how much our nation loved and adored her like we all did. With a little more time, I have a compelling story I will write to you. LaDann, one of Ann's sons, ran across some trouble with the people at the cemetery. When I have more facts, LaCretia and I want to enlist your help through letters and such to expose this great injustice. Again, when I get all of the facts, I will extend them to you. In the meanwhile,
continue to pray for her family and the one's hwo loved her and are hurting
the most. Please pray for me, LaCretia and our band. For there is one
less happy soul to cheer us on. Pray for all of us--until I, Ricky Lynn
Gregg write again, Sincerely, Ricky Lynn Gregg

Above is a picture of Darrell Abbott and Vinnie Paul with Ricky. Darrell and Vinnie were members of the famous rock group Pantera and have now formed their own band called "Damage Plan". Darrell & Vinnie are long time friends of Ricky's and they showed up at the show at Cowboy's Arlington and got up on stage with Ricky and jammed to "You Really Got Me". The music was so intense it almost tore the roof off the place! Once they were backstage, they found out about Ricky's gear being stolen. Darrell called his guitar tech at the studio they have in the area. He told him to load up a cab with two Randall amps, cables, etc. and bring it to the venue. The cab drove up just as everyone was leaving. Darrell gave Ricky the equipment because of their history and deep friendship. Ricky would like to thank them and let the world know that these guys are genuine and true hearted friends for what they did. You can visit their website at www.damageplan.com.
